John Terry has been ruled out of Chelsea‘s Premier League game at Manchester City on Wednesday as he is still feeling the strain of playing twice in four days following his remarkable recovery from knee surgery.
Caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo is confident the defender will be fit for Saturday’s game with Tottenham however.
“We almost have a fully fit squad for the City game, only (Oriol) Romeu and Terry are out, JT should be back for Spurs match on Saturday,” Di Matteo said at Tuesday’s pre-match conference.
“We need to prevent Man City from expressing themselves, they have quality players all over, from defence to attack.”
Not surprised at all. Coming back from knee surgery so soon was remarkable. And then to play two games in four games was always going to make JT’s recovery difficult.
Interesting that he will play against Spurs though this weekend. I wonder if deep down, Chelsea fell that the Spurs is the bigger of the two games?
