Chelsea have completed the signing of Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Willian on a five-year-deal after the Brazilian midfielder was granted a work permit.
Willian has said it is a dream to move to Chelsea, and that Jose Mourinho’s presence at the club was a major factor in his decision.
“I’ve always been following Chelsea and every time I came to London I would try to see a Chelsea game and see how the team was doing because it’s been my dream to come to play here,” he told the club’s website.
“Finally it’s become a reality, and when the offer came I never gave a thought to anybody else, I said to myself that I would run here, and I’m happy to be here now. Chelsea was always my first choice.”
By all accounts Willian is a terrific player, but it will be interesting to see how Mourinho fits him into a Chelsea midfield that is overloaded with players at the moment.
