Benfica Confirm Chelsea Bid For David Luiz.

by David on January 27, 2011

There have been reports for weeks that Chelsea are interested in signing Benfica’s Brazilian defender David Luiz and Benfica have confirmed that Chelsea have made an official bid for the player.

“A negotiation process is currently ongoing and the market will be informed when it is completed,” Benfica said in a statement.

As usual the two clubs are arguing over player valuation. Benfica want £25 million for Luiz while Chelsea have offered £21.5 million, plus one of their young players.

So basically the sides are only £3.5 apart and that should not be enough to kill the deal.

Interestingly Chelsea booked a work permit application for Luiz for Wednesday in anticipation of completing the deal but Benfica then played Luiz for 90 minutes in a cup match on Wednesday evening.

I must say I like what appears Chelsea’s approach to the transfer market this month. Luiz is one of the best young defenders in Europe while Sergio Aguero and Diego Godin are two young rising stars. Signing these kind of players will set Chelsea up for years.

Actually Attletico. Rejected Chelsea’s £52m offer. Aguero would kick Anelka to the bench if the deal was sealed!

Chelsea beware because Man City will hijack the deal in the last minute as they did in Robinho, i don’t like Chelsea continuous waist of time in this deal, i am pissed off, i pray everyday that its happen soon but i don’t like our approach in this matter, its will be painful to watch him play for another team and Chelsea will regret it if they allow this happen, this guy is good, can somebody plead with Oga Abram to release money and tie up this deal ones and for all, enough of this nonsense game.

carlos should not b blame if he fail to win anything. Abraham refuse to give him players that he want, unlike when mourinho was in chelsea. He use more young player of the club than any other coach in chelsea. If carlos eventuall leave the club to roma, nobody should blame him for that. The rumour of mourinho coming to chelsea will be a grate failure due to money
