Ashley Cole Dismisses Exit Talk

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has ruled out a move to Paris Saint Germain after insisting contract talks over a new deal at Stamford Bridge have not stalled.

Cole’s future has been the subject of speculation with the 31-year-old entering the final year of his Blues contract.

It was reported that Chelsea had yet to open talks with Cole over a contract extension, with the player supposedly holding out for a deal worth £200,000 a week.

However, Cole has taken to Twitter to dismiss talk of his pay demands and explain that talks have only just got under way.

The left-back wrote:

‘Contract talks have not stalled just started, and 200k are you for real, I’d never ask for that..’

The 31-year-old recently pledged his commitment to the Blues’ cause on Twitter, saying

‘until Chelsea don’t want me I’m #cfc4life’

I am really surprised that Chelsea are letting Cole enter the last 12 months of his contract without offering him a new one. It’s not like Jose Bosingwa, Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, who all left on free transfers this summer, because Cole is still one of the top left backs in the world.

As a free agent next summer, most of the big European clubs would be fighting each other for his signature. And are Chelsea prepared to let Cole leave on a Bosman next summer?

I don’t understand the stance by Chelsea on this one.
